Sullivan & Cromwell, Goldman, Sachs & Co., and the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race & Justice at Harvard Law School will be co-sponsoring a follow-up winter session to this past summer’s “The Pipeline Crisis: Winning Strategies for Young Black Men.” This winter session is expected to take place during the first quarter of 2007 and will bring together a group of approximately 100 leaders, practitioners, and experts in both the public and private sectors to continue a dialog on the issues raised during the summer forum. As with the summer forum, the focus will be on five areas of concern: (1) Pre-kindergarten and early childhood education; (2) public school education; (3) employment and economic development; (4) criminal justice and reentry; and (5) educational and career opportunities for academic achievers. The winter session is expected to function as a “marketplace of ideas” and will employ a four-hour workshop to emphasize the formation of specific program agendas to address these five areas of concern.
