Paths to Success: A Forum on Young African-American Men

July 18, 2006

Washington, District of Columbia

On July 18, 2006, the Kaiser Family Foundation and The Washington Post hosted a forum that addressed the results of a new national survey conducted by the Foundation and the Post in partnership with Harvard University.  Designed to dovetail with the Post’s ongoing series, “Being a Black Man,” and drawing a crowd of approximately 150 to hear a 17-member panel, the forum focused on strategies for young black men to succeed in contemporary American society.  The forum was moderated by Kaiser Foundation Trustee Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., a Pipeline co-sponsor and Harvard Law Professor of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race & Justice at Harvard Law School, and it was preceded with remarks by Bill Cosby and Foundation CEO and former New Jersey Human Services Commissioner Drew Altman.
